The Marmara Sea is located in the north and west of the province, Kocaeli in the east, Bursa (Orhangazi-Gemlik) and Gemlik Bay in the south. Yalova is located between 39-40 North latitude and 29-61 East longitude. It is 2 meters above sea level. With an area of 847 km2, it constitutes the smallest province in our country. Yalova has a mountainous terrain, except for the plains on the east coast. The climate of Yalova reflects the continental climate characteristics in some periods. In the Yalova region, mainly three types of air currents are dominant, those coming from the north and south, and those of a calm nature. Summers in the province are hot and dry, and winters are warm and rainy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Flora<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The borders of Yalova province from the north to the southwest are surrounded by the Sea of Marmara. The coasts do not show any indented features. The vegetation of the province consists of maquis and forests. The maquis, which are found in the valleys to the north and south of the Samanl\u0131 Mountains, are found in discontinuous strips and pieces along the skirts of this mass. The steep slopes in the south of Yalova are completely covered with a dense forest cover. Forests cover about 5% of the province.
